To read when planning the trip

All prices everywhere include taxes. In France, the price you see is the price you pay. By law, price tags must reflect the final amount you will be charged, including all taxes.

Tipping is not mandatory. For a coffee, tipping is not expected. For lunch or dinner, leaving a tip of 5-10 euros is considered generous.

Hotels and transportation typically do not require tips, nor do Uber or taxi drivers.

Card machines do not always work perfectly, so keep a 50-euro bill on hand in case the card machine at your restaurant is broken. Always have some backup cash.

Restrooms are not free; you need to buy a coffee to use them. Please also carry a couple of 2-euro coins to be able to visit restroom.

Services like Venmo or CashApp are not used in Europe.

Must do! Contact your bank before you travel and inform them of your trip to avoid any issues with overseas transactions. If couples suddenly start using their credit cards in Europe without notifying their bank, the security team might block the cards due to suspicious activity.

Call your bank to let them know which countries you'll visit and how much you plan to spend. Also, check if you need to adjust any payment or withdrawal limits.

There is one mandatory situation where you’ll need to tip well in France: if you’re going to a café on your elopement day and plan to take up space for photos. French waiters often deal with Instagrammers and tourists taking photos, and they aren’t very photoshoot-friendly. Please prepare a generous €15-20 tip to encourage them to let us take photos at the café. We need to bribe the café first, and then the waiter will pretend not to notice when we disturb other visitors. But this is for you, for beautiful photos!

Shall we go on a dessert date and spend more time together?
